Meet Magento India 2022 – Recap and Insights [#MM22IN]
Meet Magento is an eCommerce conference organized every year in over 40 countries. It is a perfect opportunity for Magento enthusiasts to network and synergize businesses. Meet Magento India is considered the biggest Magento event in the country.
This year, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Meet Magento India 2022 event was organized virtually on February 4, 2022. It was organized by Wagento and Evrig. Delightful enough, Meetanshi joined the list of bronze sponsors for the event this year.
The event ultimately proved to be a great opportunity for Magento enthusiasts, merchants, developers, and marketers. There were informative sessions that added value to the Magento people and amazing contests to add some fun to the event.

Team Meetanshim was highly excited to join the event from the morning onwards. The event was inaugurated by Brent Peterson and Vijay Golani, with opening remarks. It was followed by some amazing informative sessions from the leaders in the Magento community.

Demystifying Magento Performance
The session was held by Hashid Hameed from Codilar, where he discussed how we can optimize Magento speed. During the session, Mr. Hashid threw light on how developers can optimize Magento performance. In this session, Hashid shared some of the common mistakes that slowdowns the Magento.
He also shared some tips and tricks for the developers to speed up Magento performance.

The amazing session on Magento optimization was followed by a morning networking break.
During this, team Meetanshi enjoyed delicious in-house snacks and connected with some amazing professionals out there in the Meet Magento lounge.

After the quick break, everyone was supercharged to resume the event. It was the time to sharpen debugging skills through an amazing session by Joseph Maxwell, CEO of Swift Otter.
Becoming an Expert Debugger
In this session, Joseph threw light on how one can become an expert debugger. He explained the detective’s approach to finding and re-creating the bugs. He also explained how do bugs happen and what can we do to minimize their possibility.
In the session, he also explained some amazing tips for the developers to minimize the probability of bugs through best coding practices.

Revenue is indeed the most important and ultimate goal of any eCommerce business. A keynote presentation on revenue automation for businesses was given by Aparna Gray at Meet Magento India 2022.
In the session, she discussed 10 ways to automate the revenue for eCommerce businesses through emails.
In her amazing session, she discussed everything about revenue automation from sending welcome emails to sending birthday wishes mails to the customers. She practically explained how one can leverage customer engagement and retention with the business using emails.

A key session was organized by Christian Patrica, Product Manager Integrations at Adobe Commerce on how one can achieve headless integration through the use of GraphQL and PWA in Magento. The session highlighted the importance of Adobe Commerce API to achieve a successful headless eCommerce integration.

Current Magento uses monolith architecture, in which frontend and backend are combined with each other. It can be transformed into a powerful headless platform using GraphQL and PWA.
It is now possible with PWA and GraphQL in Magento.

When discussing eCommerce, how can we forget online marketplaces? Another session by Sudhanshu Rawat from McFadyen Digital discussed ins and outs of online marketplaces. During his session, he covered marketplace management and how its personalization help improves the UI / UX.

In his session on online marketplaces, Sudhanshu discussed how online marketplaces are beneficial in eCommerce. Some of the key figures and facts related to online marketplaces are provided below:
- In 2020, the top 100 marketplaces received 62.7% of the total eCommerce sales globally.
- In China, 80.5% of the total online sales flowed through Taobao and Tmall marketplaces.
- 59% of the North American online retailers were selling through online marketplaces in 2021.

Begin with Hyvä
Another session by Vishi Gulati, Senior Software Engineer at VT Netzwelt, explained how Magento store owners can ameliorate their store experience using Hyvä. The session threw light on the Hvyä theme, its implementation, Hvyä widgets, and checkout. It was an amazing session on what Hvyä has to offer to the Magento stores.

Kamlesh Sharma from Envision eCommerce discussed how digitalization is affecting retail outlets through the use of digital catalogs. He also discussed the shoppers’ expectations and how can digitalization help in improving sales and conversions at retail outlets.

Lunch Break
The beautiful session on eCommerce marketplaces was followed by an hour-long lunch break. It was the time to replenish the energy levels for the day. Team Meetanshi enjoyed a mouth-watering lunch together.
After having a delicious lunch🍕, we were supercharged to resume the Meet Magento 2022 event🤩.
Adobe Commerce Upgrade Compatibility
We continued the event by attending an amazing session by Sergii Ivashchenko, Tech Lead at Adobe, on ‘Adobe Commerce Upgrade Compatibility’. During this session, Sergii discussed the common issues we face during upgrades to newer Adobe Commerce versions. The session also included a demonstration of the Upgrade Compatibility Tool and PHPStrom Plugin functionality.
He also shared some of the important resources for the developers during the sessions. A screenshot of the same is provided below.
Sergii also discussed the Magento 2022 release and EOS schedule. He also informed that it is important to upgrade to Magento 2.4.4 or higher by November 2022. Therefore, it is vital to upgrade Magento to the latest version to receive quality support and security patches until November 2024.

This amazing session was followed by an informative session on ‘Core web vitals’ by Pradip Shah, Co-Founder at luroConnect.
Pradip, in his session, discussed Google’s core web vitals and how we can use them to improve site speed in Magento. Pradip also threw light on the effect of headless / PWA on the web vitals.
Followed by it was an amazing session by Christian Münch on ‘ddev – Awesome PHP / Magento development environment’. During this session, Christian explained how ddev can handle multiple PHP environments with docker. In the session, he showed the live setup of the Magento 2 shop with ddev.
During the demonstration of the tool, he also covered some of the important topics, such as:
- How can setups share in the team?
- How to handle multiple projects
- How can different projects communicate with each other?
- How to handle service dependencies like Redis, Varnish, Elasticsearch?
- How can we debug code?
The session remained super informative for the Magento developers. It was followed by two more amazing sessions on ‘Why Adobe Commerce?’ by Ravi Mittal and ‘Simplifying cross-border payments for IT/ITeS services’ by Mahadevan Gopalkrishnan.
The event remained super informative for everyone and Mit Crew enjoyed it a lot! At last, everyone ended the event by sharing selfies from their desk.
