A Complete Tutorial on Magento 2 Currency Setup
Magento 2 offers features that can be useful to increase customer engagement and improve the shopping experience. One of them is the Magento 2 Currency Setup which affects the pricing display and payment processing in your stores.
When it comes to Magento 2, physical locations are not a limitation any more. However, the store must be configured keeping in mind visitors from different locations. Currency is one such factor and hence the post guides you to setup multi-currency in Magento 2 store!
Magento 2 offers 3 types of currencies to be set up. All 3 have different scope and usability.

After the currency setup is done, the currency symbol is shown in product prices, orders, and invoices. If you have set up multiple currency in Magento 2, customers in the frontend will get the currency selector in the header.
How to Setup Multi-Currency in Magento 2:
Each step in detail,

Select the Allowed Currency
- Login to Admin panel
- Navigate to Stores > Settings > Configuration
- Under General, go to Currency Setup
- Expand the Currency Option and select the Base Currency from the dropdown.
- Assign the Default Display Currency to the currency that you use to display pricing in your store.
- In the Allowed Currencies field, select multiple currencies you want for the payment in the store.

Set Currency Symbols
- Navigate to Stores > Currency > Currency Symbols
- Uncheck the “Use Standard” checkbox and set any custom symbol you want.
- Save the Currency Symbols.

Update the Currency Rates
- If the currency is yet not showing in the frontend, do not forget to set the rate
- Navigate to Stores > Currency > Currency Rates
- You can either set the rates manually or import into the store.

Caching
- Navigate to System > Tools > Cache Management.
- Clean Cache
You can also auto update currency rates in Magento 2 rather than updating them manually which will be tedious process.
