How to Create Shopify Customer Groups?
Shopify supports creating customer segments in the backend based on various filters.
You can change the customer segment for the list by clicking on the Customer Segment:
drop-down menu above the list. The all customers
is selected by default, which lists all the customers in the store.
You can also find other pre-defined customer segment filters such as email subscribers, customers with multiple purchases, etc.
Furthermore, Shopify allows merchants to create custom groups (segments) based on filters.
Let’s see how Shopify customer segmentation works!
Suppose you want to create a customer group that lists all the customers with a total amount spent of more than $200, you can follow these steps for that:
Step 1: Expand Editor
First of all, click on the Show Editor option on the top-right side of the customer list.
Step 2: Apply Filter
Now, a query box will appear on the screen, where you can create a custom filter or choose from a template.
In this example, we want to get a list of customers with a total amount spent of more than 200, so we’ll use the following query:
amount_spent > 200
and hit the Apply button. (You can click use the default Filters & templates to create customer groups as per your requirement)
This will list all the customers with a total amount spent of over $200.
Step 3: Save the Segment
Finally, click on the Save Segment button and enter a name for the customer group.
You’ve successfully created a customer group (segment) in Shopify! 🤩
Now, you’ll be easily able to apply this filter by selecting the saved segment on the customer list!
Remember, the Shopify segments work on the filter and it will automatically include or exclude the customers based on the criteria. Therefore, you are not required to add/remove customers manually after you create customer groups in Shopify.
If you want to create a customer group manually on your own, you can use the customer tags functionality. Just add the tags to the customers and create customer groups in Shopify by using the tag filter.
It’s as easy as that!
Conclusion
Creating and saving customer segments in Shopify is easy and straightforward, thanks to its intuitive interface. You can follow the step-wise method provided above to create customer groups in Shopify for better management of your business.
